Fueling Discovery

  • Among recent gifts, we received $100M to drive our research agenda and $25M to create a center of excellence
  • Carney faculty were awarded more than $25M in external grant funding in FY18
  • We started FY19 with a $12M grant from NIH to our COBRE Center to explore the fundamentals of brain function

We awarded more than $1M in internal grants, funding 6 innovation awards; 6 RI Neuroscience Consortium New Frontiers Awards; 2 postdoctoral fellows; 5 graduate awards; and 6 summer UTRA awards.

Building Community

  • We organized 4 Carney Lunch Talks to spotlight our researchers and to foster trans-disciplinary conversations
  • We welcomed 2 associate professors to the Center for the Neurobiology of Cells and Circuits, and 2 Carney staff members
