Debbie Yee wins a Postdoctoral Excellence Award

Debbie Yee, a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Cognitive and Psychological Sciences and member of the Carney Institute community, is the recipient of one of three 2025 Postdoctoral Excellence Awards.

Given by Brown’s Office of University Postdoctoral Affairs, the awards recognize postdoctoral researchers at Brown who demonstrate excellence in research or teaching and go above and beyond to build community for postdoctoral trainees at Brown.

Yee was recognized for her efforts to build community and create networking opportunities for junior postdoctoral researchers at Brown. In 2022, Debbie co-organized the Growing Up in Aging Neuroscience Symposium, an event for junior researchers considering or pursuing a career in aging neuroscience. Yee served for two years on the organizing committee of the Carney Institute for Brain Science’s postdoctoral seminar series, which forged relationships between Brown brain science postdocs and postdoctoral researchers at other institutions. This fall, together with her colleague Darcy Diesburg, Yee organized Carney’s first ever postdoctoral retreat, which brought together 20 postdocs from four departments together for two days on Cape Cod.

“Debbie has been a real champion for the postdoctoral brain science community at Brown and Carney,” said Kristin Webster, Carney’s associate director of training and development. “It is wonderful to see her recognized.”

Yee was honored with a ceremony with Vice President for Research Greg Hirth during the 2025 Brown Postdoctoral Research Symposium on Thursday, March 27, in Sayles Hall.
